Will Smith's mum Carolyn Smith has addressed her son slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022 awards show March 27. Hollywood has been rocked by the shocking incident, which has quickly become one of the most controversial in the history of the Academy Awards.
Will, 53, who referenced that his mum declined to attend the ceremony in favour of having a watch party with her knitting group during his acceptance speech, lost his cool and hit comedian Chris, 57, following a joke about his 50 year old wife Jada Pinkett Smith's alopecia.
Chris said he was looking forward to seeing Jada in "G.I. Jane 2", and while Will initially laughed, his wife rolled her eyes in annoyance, prompting an emotional reaction from the star.
In response to the scenes, which also saw Will shouting expletives at Chris and ordering him to "keep my wife's f*****g name out of your mouth", 85 year old Carolyn said it was completely unusual for her son to react in such a way.The Philadelphia-born mum spoke to her local news station Action News about watching the events on-screen.
