Will Mellor has told of how joining Coronation Street helped him overcome the grief of losing his beloved father last year. The actor, who plays menacing drug lord Harvey Gaskell in the ITV soap, says the role is a dream come true – and dad Bill would have been “chuffed”.
He says: “I had a bad time losing my dad, it was really hard for the family. Coronation Street is a nice positive to come out of it.
He would have been chuffed to see me in it. “It’s been tough for everyone – the hardest thing is I can’t get that time back.
I wish I had gone and hugged him, but I couldn’t because of Covid. “If I’d known, I would have sat and hugged him all night.
