Hundreds of volunteers from across Wigan are being invited to return to mobile clinics over the coming days for their second appointment as part of the NHS-Galleri trial.

Participants will be asked to give another blood sample to help investigate whether a multi-cancer blood screening test can help to detect cancer early before symptoms appear.

Since the NHS-Galleri trial first arrived in Wigan in March 2022, the trial has successfully enrolled over 140,000 volunteers from many different socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds across England, including 20,000 from Greater Manchester.

Those taking part were all aged from 50 to 77 years old at the point of enrolling in the trial and had not been diagnosed or treated for cancer in the last three years.
