Andrea Mitchell is stepping away from Andrea Mitchell Reports, her MSNBC TV news show she’s hosted since 2008.

The 78-year-old anchor actually announced this news back in October of 2024, but her last day is coming up on Friday (February 7).

Viewers may be wondering why she’s leaving her news program. Keep reading to find out more… In a statement back in October, Andrea shared, “After sixteen years of being in the anchor chair every day, I want time to do more of what I love the most: connecting, listening, and reporting in the field, especially as whoever is elected next week is going to undertake the monumental task of handling two foreign wars and the political divisions here at home.” Andrea will still be the chief Washington correspondent at NBC News, as well as the chief foreign affairs correspondent.

MSNBC said in a statement, “Andrea remains one of the country’s foremost and most trusted experts on foreign policy and domestic politics.
