Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings trilogy and depicts the rise of Sauron in Middle-earth’s Second Age.The show’s cast is led by Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, alongside Lenny Henry, Sara Zwangobani, Robert Aramayo, Benjamin Walker, Charles Edwards, Daniel Weyman, and Charlie Vickers.New cast additions in season two include Ciarán Hinds, Rory Kinnear, Tanya Moodie, Ben Daniels, Stuart Bowman, Kevin Eldon, and Oliver Alvin-Wilson.While Charlie Vickers plays Sauron in the show, the first episode of season two sees Jack Lowden play a younger version of the Dark Lord in a flashback.Lowden is best known for starring in BBC miniseries War & Peace and Apple TV’s Slow Horses.
He also played Morrissey in biopic England Is Mine, and starred in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk as an RAF fighter-pilot.Earlier this year, he married his long-term partner Saoirse Ronan.There are eight episodes in the second season.
The first three were released on Amazon on August 29, with the remaining five set to be released weekly from this date, with the finale scheduled for October 3.
