Coming-of-age comedy Derry Girls is finally returning for its third and final series. Season 2 of the much-loved Channel 4 show was shown in 2019 - but repeated delays to filming caused by the coronavirus pandemic mean viewers have had to wait three years for the latest instalment.
And, to the dismay of die-hard fans, writer Lisa McGee confirmed in a statement on Twitter last year that ‘it was always the plan to say goodbye after three series’.
With a quick-witted script full of 90s school days nostalgia, it's easy to see why the show will be missed. Derry Girls season 3 starts tonight (Tuesday, April 12) on Channel 4 and new episodes are set to be released weekly at 9.15pm.
It’s anticipated that there will be six episodes in total and catch up will be available on All 4. Read more: Better Call Saul season 6 release date on Netflix The show’s lovable characters are a big reason for its success.
