Enola Holmes is actually based on a YA mystery series written by Nancy Springer called They include different characters and themes borrowed from the classic Sherlock stories to create Enola’s world, and the series starts the same way the movie does: With her mother’s disappearance.
You won’t find any mentions of Enola in any other Sherlock stories, which is what makes this part of the Sherlock universe so unique.
Considering the fact that Doyle’s stories date back to the 1800s, the stories and characters are , as a judge ruled in 2014—and that gives Springer and Netflix free reign to do whatever they want with Enola.
That said, are we going to get another movie based on the series? There’s definitely room for a sequel, and we know Netflix.
