Prince Charles immediately became King Charles III when Queen Elizabeth passed away today (September 8). A coronation will take place, likely in the next few weeks, but this is to endorse the position the King is already in, not to give him his title.
There will also be a special meeting of the Privy Council (a formal body of advisers for the King), known as the Ascension Council.
Camilla is now also Queen Camilla, as Queen Elizabeth wished in her Accession Day message of 5 February 2022. Prince William, however, has not automatically become Prince Wales in Charles' place.
