Mancunians have been reminiscing about one of Manchester's most popular shopping Streets. Throughout its history, Market Street has been home to some of the city's most iconic stores and restaurants.
Still one of Manchester city centre's most popular retail destinations, it's seen significant changes over the years. There was a time when traffic ran right along Market Street, but in 1981, it was pedestrianised as part of the Manchester Arndale development.
And it's Market Street in the 1980s that people fondly remember as the home of some of their favourite shops and eateries. Recently, images of Market Street in 1984 were posted on the hugely popular We Grew Up In Manchester Facebook group.
The public group has almost 100k members and has grown into a popular place to share memories and photos of bygone days. One of the images featured Olivers, a bakery and sandwich shop that sold 'Supersub' sandwiches long before Subway arrived in the UK.
