As focus zeroes in on at least one Manchester City right-back in Kyle Walker, there is another quietly catching the eye in the academy - but he is modelling his game more on a world-class midfielder than the speedy full-back.
Pep Guardiola's long-term right-back plan looks to be be borne in the academy, as Rico Lewis races past 50 senior appearances and has held the defence together at times this season.
He is a completely different player to Walker, however, and would prefer to be a number eight than a number two. As Walker struggles for form and fitness, attention naturally turns to the future in that position.
And the next in line from the academy is Lakyle Samuel - who is moving more towards the 'Lewis' approach to being a full-back than the more traditional Walker-route.
