Are there mineshafts nearby? Is the village on gas? Is there a covenant stating that, if you’re not from around here, the locals can invade your garden with pitchforks?They say finding the right house is serendipity. ‘It will find you,’ people tell me. ‘You’ll know when it’s right.’ Although, I worry this approach is flawed, because I have the same poor judgement about houses as I do about men, falling for the superficial stuff and only discovering all the bad bits long after I’ve committed.Still, a house in Somerset does.
