Meet a trio of finalists in the Little Champions category in this year's Scotland's Champions Awards. Tierney Batt, Jackson McCall and Ace Ward captured the hearts of our judging panel, chaired by Lord Jack McConnell, and will be honoured at our glittering ceremony on September 17.
The category is sponsored by XSite Braehead and is one of the 10 awards which will be handed out at the glittering event at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Glasgow Central.
For tickets, click here.Pint-sized Jackson reckons he is the youngest rescue volunteer in the UK.Standing just 3ft 1in tall and tipping the scales at 3st, he punches way above his weight as a valued junior member of the Trossachs Search and Rescue Team in Perthshire.And while he is still too young to go out on live search-and-rescues, Jackson never misses his weekly team training.Accompanied by his mum - fellow team volunteer, Eilidh McCall - the youngster helps with the team's search-and-rescue dogs and is also tasked with keeping everyone's spirits up.Eilidh said: "At our last training session, Jackson acted as a casualty.
He hid and the dogs had to find him. There's probably a good chance he is the youngest rescue team member in the UK. He is always ready to go training before me and has his own uniform."When Eilidh goes on a live callout without her son, he understands.
