A young couple has raised the stakes in the notorious holiday sunbed war by creeping down to their hotel pool at 1am. Aimee Millar, 20, hailing from near Belfast, found herself leaving her room in the wee hours after noticing rival holidaymakers were bagging the best spots under cover of darkness. "In the hotel we stayed at, if we didn't get those certain sunbeds we would've had to pay €7.50 (£6) each for a bed," Aimee shared with Luxury Travel Daily. "As much as it was crazy we didn't mind doing it at 1am as we were staying up later anyways." During their stay in sunny Albufeira, Portugal, Aimee and her beau Darragh, also 20, realised they had to up their game.

Initially setting alarms for an early claim pre-breakfast around 6am, they still found themselves losing out on prime lounging territory.

Taking to TikTok, Aimee captured their stealthy, towel-toting escapades, confessing: "I know it's crazy but it's the normal thing to do here", reports Belfast Live.

Despite getting involved in the midnight dash, Aimee does concede that the whole procedure is a bit unjust. She reasons, "I believe that putting the sunbeds down is fair in the morning but at more like 9am or 10am." "I think leaving towels down when leaving the pool or late at night is crazy and a bit too far.
