Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust (GMMH) has been slammed by city leaders for not making enough progress, nor fast enough, around 16 months on from allegations of abuse of patients and ‘disgusting’ behaviour of staff.
But senior figures at the troubled NHS trust say they have been struggling to recruit for the top posts in the organisation.
Today, January 23, mental health trust bosses were brought before Manchester City Council in one of a series of meetings monitoring the beleaguered organisation’s progress.
The meetings began to scrutinise GMMH’s improvement plan following the revelations of last year’s Panorama programme. The documentary uncovered scenes of harrowing treatment of inpatients at the trust’s Edenfield Centre.
