Joshua Zirkzee was handily holidaying in Los Angeles. Unlike Kobbie Mainoo, he did not touch base with his new Manchester United teammates at UCLA.

While United were bracing themselves for Rasmus Hojlund's diagnosis, their new striker was already back in Manchester under the watchful eye of Steve McClaren.

Zirkzee played a meagre four minutes for the Netherlands at the European Championship but he was entitled to a three-week break.

The 23-year-old did not take the full three weeks off. There were 19 days between his cameo against England in Dortmund in the semi-final and his arrival at Carrington.
