AC Milan have confirmed they have pulled out of the race to sign Manchester United transfer target Joshua Zirkzee. United, as reported by the Manchester Evening News on Monday morning, are making progress on a deal to bring the 23-year-old to Old Trafford.
The Bologna forward has a €40million (£33m) release clause in his contract and United are optimistic of wrapping up a deal this month.
The Netherlands international, who scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for Bologna last term, has been earmarked as the striker United want to beef up their attacking options.
Rasmus Hojlund is currently the club's only recognisable striker following the exit of Anthony Martial.
