Beg, Steal, Borrow (BSB) is a funky swap shop found on the second floor of the iconic indoor market. Having moved to the UK over six years ago, store owner Erin Thomas saw a need for sustainable shopping in Manchester city centre after moving from her hometown in Nashville, Tennessee.
BSB is a buy, sell and trade clothing shop where you bring your old clothes in and trade them to get store credit to spend on new clothes.
The 25-year-old, who has a passion for recirculating and trading old clothes for new ones, uses the consignment model based on some of her favourite American thrift stores. Try MEN Premium for FREE by clicking here for no ads, fun puzzles and brilliant new features. “I’ve always been into thrifting since I was quite young, and where I’m from in the states, I have a big family so we would always use what are called consignment shops, which is the same process we use here, we trade and get new clothes. “We would use that method to get new clothes and I always found that really helpful, it’s sustainable, it’s something that I’ve always been passionate about,” Erin said. “I saw a need in Manchester city centre for like minded and stylish people to get clothes and use the ones they don’t wear - all while being budget friendly.
