Manchester City invited Konstantinos Karetsas for a trial - but the offer was turned down, according to the highly-rated Belgian midfielder’s father.
The 16-year-old has shot to prominence in his home country after breaking into Genk’s first-team. Karetsas made his professional debut aged just 15 on the opening day of the season.
That was for Jong Genk, essentially an Under-23s side who play in the Challenger Pro League, the second-highest division in Belgium.
Karetsas was called up to Genk’s senior squad against Cercle Brugge earlier this month, coming off the bench in the Jupiler Pro League clash before being handed a start against Royal Antwerp.
