Manchester City refuse to stand still in the transfer window as they look to continue winning. Txiki Begiristain lines up transfer targets months and years in advance in an effort to secure the best deals, although there can also be some last-minute shopping done.
There has also been progress in the production of academy players that has seen homegrown youngsters become part of Pep Guardiola's squad; Phil Foden was named the best player in the Premier League this season, while Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb have come through in recent years.
City know that it will be a small percentage of their academy that are able to make it through to their first team, and their success at all age groups has made their young talent more valuable for other clubs to come in and sign.
However, there are an increasing number of academy players that Guardiola can call on if he chooses to and with a longer season and expanded competitions on the horizon there may be a need for a bigger squad at the Etihad.
