Wayne Rooney believes Manchester United should build their team around a No.9 like Harry Kane - in the same way that Sir Alex Ferguson’s side was built around Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The Tottenham Hotspur and England striker has been heavily linked with a United transfer in recent weeks, since he dropped a hint that he would consider his Spurs future depending on the club's trajectory.
With United on the hunt for a striker in the summer transfer window, the 26-year-old has been touted for a move. MEN Sport understands links have been exaggerated, however, and United are concentrating on other transfer targets.
But Rooney, writing in his column for The Timesbelieves Kane is a natural No.9 and compared him to former United great Van Nistelrooy.
