Speculation over the Benfica forward continues to swirl amid reports key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom are closing in on an agreement with the Portuguese side.
Nunez has scored 34 goals in 41 games for Benfica this season and is understood to be a priority target. Having touched down in the UK to set about his much-needed rebuild, manager Erik ten Hag wants a centre-back and versatile attacking option, not to mention at least one recruit in central midfield. Both players have been among the most lethal finishers on the continent this season. Nunez scored 26 times in 28 league appearances and added a further six goals in the Champions League.
Reports circulating over the course of this weekend suggest United are closing in on a deal, but some outlets say Benfica want £80million for his services.
