Essential Broadband plan is priced at £15 per month and will be available to anyone in receipt of Universal Credit. Set to be launched this autumn, the plan will initially be made available to existing Virgin Media customers who are on benefits.
In order to qualify for the discounted rate, customers must fill in an online form and provide proof of their Universal Credit status.
The plan will supply users with broadband speeds of 15 Mbps, and the aim is to help people stay connected to loved ones or to aid the job-hunting process at a time when online connectivity is crucial.
