A blushing bride, her husband and best man spent their wedding night in a jail cell after a rammy broke out. Bride Claire Goodbrand's reception celebration descended into a violent fight after she attacked and injured her mum Cherry-Ann Lindsay, a court heard.
The 26-year-old's new husband Eamonn Goodbrand and his brother Kieran, their best man, both weighed in, viciously assaulting wedding guest David Boyd and leaving him severely injured. The best man then attacked another guest, injuring him as well. After police arrived to break up the fight, the main players in the wedding party were all arrested and remanded in custody. The bride and the groom spent their wedding night in separate cells before appearing shamefaced in court the following Monday. When they were finally released from custody Claire was wearing what appeared to be her going-away outfit while the groom and best man were dressed in prison-issue Primark tracksuits, still wearing their mud-stained wedding shoes.
Professional fighter Eamonn, 33, who was sporting a head injury when he was freed, gave an address in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, as did his 26-year-old wife and his 28-year-old brother.
CCTV footage which reportedly captured the fight spilling out of the wedding venue onto the lawn outside, persuaded the trio’s legal team to negotiate guilty pleas to a reduced number of charges at Livingston Sheriff Court.
