Two victims of an abuser who beat and raped them are demanding tougher justice for violent and controlling men. Allen Alexander-Rouse raped Julie Crompton while she was on the phone and attacked Caitlin Stroud so viciously when she tried to leave him that she feared she would be killed.

The thug behaved like a gentleman at first but soon isolated them from loved ones, becoming sadistic. Julie, 48, and Caitlin, 27, have become friends and now want to help other women.

Both have waived their right to anonymity to underline that they are not ashamed – and demand better treatment for abused women.

After having their lives dismantled, they faced the additional ordeal of being challenged by Alexander-Rouse’s lawyers, who argued that sex was always consensual.Julie said: “The jury saw through that.
