'Utter shambles': Manchester Airport passengers stuck in 'ridiculous' two-hour queues and almost miss flights

Passengers at Manchester Airport were faced with ‘ridiculous' two-hour queues over the weekend. Frustrated travellers described 'shambolic' delays at passport control and some almost almost missed their flights.

It comes after airport bosses apologised over long delays and 'horrendous' queues at passport control on Friday. Aimee told the Manchester Evening News: “It's an utter shambles. "I only just made my flight with minutes to spare. "You have to literally flag a member down to get through, but if your bag has been flagged for extra checks then you have no chance of making the flights. "The queues are ridiculous and there’s no organisation at all. "The queue is looped three times around the check-in area before you even get to the security barrier. "The only announcement they’ve made is to maintain social distancing but we can’t do that in this situation." An airport spokesman said the delays were caused by 'a greater number of passengers than expected'.
