EXCLUSIVE: Following the Sundance world premiere of her feature directorial debut, East of Wall — a drama that won the NEXT Audience Award — filmmaker Kate Beecroft has signed with UTA for representation in all areas.

Recently acquired by Sony Pictures Classics, which will distribute the film to theaters worldwide, East of Wall is a work of docu-fiction that centers on Tabatha, a young, tattooed, rebellious horse trainer grappling with financial struggles and unresolved grief, while offering shelter to a group of wayward teens on her broken-down ranch in the Badlands.

In addition to directing, Beecroft wrote and produced the film, which features Tabatha Zimiga and Porshia Zimiga playing fictionalized versions of themselves alongside Scoot McNairy and Jennifer Ehle.

In an interview with Deadline’s Antonia Blyth out of Sundance, which you can view above, Beecroft shared that “it’s been the most rewarding, amazing, moment of my life spending five years with this incredible family, making this film.” Currently developing her next film under her Wrong Side of the River Films production banner, Beecroft is a Los Angeles native who graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
