ok.co.ukOver four episodes, new ITV drama Until I Kill You has told the story of Delia Balmer, who survived a near fatal attack by her ex-partner, murderer John Sweeney.
Motherhood star Anna Maxwell Martin and Endeavour’s Shaun Evans have both won praise for their roles as Delia and Sweeney in the series, which is based on Delia’s own book about her experiences, Living With A Serial Killer.
The drama details how Delia, an agency nurse from Canada living in London, met carpenter Sweeney in a local pub and began a relationship with him in 1991.
However, as their romance progressed, he displayed a darker side which culminated in a series of attacks on her, and during one he told her he had killed his former girlfriend in Amsterdam and disposed of her body in a canal.
