Universal Credit claims in Monklands down on same time period last year

iOS - Android Claims among the 18-24 age group last month were 644 for Airdrie & Shotts and 627 for Coatbridge, Chryston & Bellshill.North Lanarkshire as a whole registered 34,363 claims in June - a 267 rise on the previous month but down 3047 on the same time in 2020.

A Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) spokesperson told Lanarkshire Live : "The numbers claiming Universal Credit do not necessarily indicate a corresponding rise in unemployment.
