Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky made a surprise appearance at the Grammys as the annual music awards returned. The war-torn country's leader appeared in a video, filmed in his bunker, on Sunday night (April 3).
His unexpected appearance comes as the Kremlin's assault on Ukraine rages on and the death toll of civilians continues to climb, with the United Nations estimating the casualties to be in the thousands.
In his message, Mr Zelensky said music would "break through" the silence caused by the destruction of Russian forces across his country.
He appeared via video link ahead of a special performance by John Legend, featuring words by Lyuba Yakimchuk, a poet from Donbas in Ukraine. READ MORE: NHS adds NINE new Covid-19 symptoms to its official list as free testing ends "The war.
