Heavy rain could see flooding across huge parts of the country this weekend, the Met Office was warned. Yellow weather warnings for rain covering two areas on both sides of England come into force this evening.
The first, which comes into effect at 6pm, covers a large area of the south west including Cornwall, Devon, Torbay, Plymouth and Somerset.
The second covers an area on and around the eastern coast stretching from the North East, through Yorkshire and the Humber, the East Midlands and the South East (see full list of areas affected below). The Met Office says: "Rain will become persistent and at times heavy across eastern parts of England during Saturday evening, lasting into Sunday. "Rain will clear from the south of the warning area by dawn on Sunday, and from northeast England by early afternoon.
