The security of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie caused a lot of drama for King Charles. The furore came before the issue of royal protection came into focus when Prince Harry decided to sue the Home Office over changes to his security level during his UK visits.Currently, top-ranking senior royals like Charles and Camilla, as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton, have police protection officers with them all the time.
On the other hand, royals like Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex only have police protection officers when they are doing official duties. However, just like Harry, two family members have had their round-the-clock police protection paid for by taxpayers stopped - Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. The decision to take away their security happened after a disagreement about money in 2011, which is said to have made their dad, Prince Andrew, very upset.
In fact, one royal expert said that Charles had to step in and sort out the argument about paying for Beatrice and Eugenie's security because it was causing a row behind palace doors.
It's believed that Charles got involved after his younger niece, Eugenie, ran up a big bill for security when she went travelling around the world on her gap year.
