The RNLI says people will die this week if they ignore storm warnings as Britain is hit by a “ weather bomb”. The country is facing a storm “rollercoaster” as Ellen arrives in town with gales, downpours and 15ft waves.
Warnings have been issued as winds of up to 65mph and enormous tides are expected to batter the country. RNLI water safety lead, Steve Instance, said: “We are sitting in with emergency teams looking at flooding and damage but [also] at potential for loss of life.
If people don’t listen we will have fatalities. “We are deeply worried because you don’t normally see this type of weather in the middle of the summer.” He said it will be a double hit, first with Storm Ellen on Thursday followed by the remnants of tropical storm
