Britain will be hit by heavy showers today as August ends with a windy washout. While Storm Francis and its 80mph winds have moved on, large parts of the UK will still be subjected to unpleasant conditions for much of today and Friday morning.
Thursday begins with a chilly start before heavy downpours move in from the west and hit Northern Ireland. As the morning continues the showery bursts will move into England Scotland, covering much of the UK.
Its the south west's turn in the afternoon as the rains come down across Devon and Cornwall, the Bristol Channel and Plymouth.
