Gale force winds of more than 50 mph will rage across parts of the UK today as a blast of Icelandic weather sweeps over the country.
Tuesday will also see heavy rain as the day wears on, with the worst of the torrential downpour likely to strike the north. By the afternoon the Met Office is predicting wind gusts of up to 52 mph in some north western regions of Scotland.
The stormy weather and strong winds will be felt all over the northern nation, as well as in northern regions of England and Wales.
The south coast will be spared the full wrath of the storm and forecasters predict gusts of about 15mph in many areas in the far south.
