Variety has confirmed that a U.K. taskforce on insurance protection has submitted a proposal to the government for a guarantee around coverage for suspension or abandonment costs relating to COVID-19.
This could manifest in the form a government-backed fund that may amount to hundreds of millions of pounds, according to insurance insiders, and which could be relied upon in cases where a coronavirus outbreak halts production on feature films or TV series.
