Two people have been rushed to hospital after a major crash involving 12 vehicles on a major Ayrshire road. Police have confirmed that a dozen motors were involved in the smash on the A78 near Irvine this morning.Passers by described the scene as 'horrendous' as emergency services raced to the Irvine bypass near Eglinton after the crash at 9.40am.
Ambulance crews transported two casualties to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock. The southbound carriageway of the road was closed until around 12.30pm.
Cops have confirmed they are investigating the 12-car pile up.
