Two men charged as Edinburgh Ryanair flight forced to return after 'disturbance'

Two men have been arrested and charged after a Ryanair flight heading to Lanzarote was forced to return to Edinburgh. The Lanzarote-bound plane took off and headed en route to the Canary island before circling back to the Scottish capital.Tracking website Flight Radar shows the plane turned over Ayr and Girvan before heading back to Edinburgh where police were called.

Footage shared with a Spanish website shows an officer asking some passengers their hand luggage after the early end to flight RK5593 before taking it out of the overhead holders.

The flight had been due to land at around 7pm local time but was delayed for several hours. One passenger on board the plane told La Voz de Lanzarote: “We were supposed to leave at 2.15pm but took off an hour and a half late."The source added despite arriving in Lanzarote at 11.15pm local time as a result of the delays, passengers were not "even given a glass of water".Police confirmed as well as the two men arrested and charged, a third man who had also been arrested was later released without charge.
