Two men were blasted to the legs in a 'gang' shooting as a family and young children walked close by, a court heard. A family of eight, including five small children were in the immediate vicinity of a drive-by shooting in broad daylight in Cheetham Hill, where two men were 'lured' out of a cafe and shot.
The alleged gunman has fled the country, jurors at Manchester Crown Court heard. But three men accused of being in a Mercedes from which four to five shots were fired are on trial.
Hazhar Anwar, 29, Danyal Ahmed, 24, and Ahsan Shabbir, 20, all deny two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Prosecutors allege that the gunman is Mr Shabbir's brother, named in court as Faizan Shabbir.
