Two men were seriously injured during an axe and a baseball bat attack on a busy road. Emergency crews raced to the junction of Marsh Lane and Stanley Road, in Bootle, at around 8.30pm on Friday, November 17 following reports of a fight between a group of men.Two men, aged 36 and 52, were arrested on suspicion of assault and rushed to hospital with serious head injuries, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Both remain in hospital in a serious but stable condition.It was reported that one of the men was assaulted with a baseball bat and the other with an axe.
One eyewitness at the scene said he witnessed around "six fellas between 30 and 50 stamping on a man" before a "long thin object" was rammed on the man's head.
He also said a passing ambulance stopped at the scene. He described the attack as "brutal". This morning a number of police cordons surrounded a block of flats at the scene.
