Two cops rushed to hospital after Glasgow M8 horror smash

Two on-duty police officershave been rushed to hospital after a horror smash in Glasgow.The nightmare incident took place at around 1pm today (July 24) when three cars collided including a police car.Cops had closed the M8 eastbound and local diversions were in place with motorists advised to avoid the area.The two police officers were blue-lighted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital along with two other casualties.

It is currently unknown what their injuries are.Ambulances and emergency crews raced to the scene with shocking photographs showing the devastation in the pileup.

Images from the scene show two vehicles at the side of the road, one considerably damaged. While at least three ambulances are nearby, with a police van and fire engine also visible.Dozens of officers from the emergency services were also seen at the side of the debris on the major Scottish motorway with delays expected into the afternoon.Three vehicles were involved in the horror smash including one police car and four people involved were taken to hospital.

No arrests have been made so far and cops remain on scene to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "The M8 in Glasgow is closed eastbound at J13 following a three-vehicle crash, including a police car, which happened around 1.10pm on Wednesday, 24 July."Emergency services attended and two people were taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and two to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
