Two children die after infection outbreak at primary school

Two children - aged just five and six - have died following the outbreak of a stomach bug at a primary school in Liverpool.

The pupils attended Millstead Primary School in Everton where it's headteacher said the whole school community had been left "devastated" their tragic deaths.

It's understood there has been an outbreak of giardiasis at the school and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has stepped in to manage the situation.

However, the UKHSA said the causes of the deaths of the two children have not been confirmed - and stressed they are "unlikely to be due to iardia".
