TUI has issued an 'important' update to holidaymakers with trips booked to Greece within the next few weeks.The holiday operator has been forced to suspend flight operations for a short period of time in the wake of the devastating wildfires raging in Rhodes.Thousands of Britons have been rescued from fire-hit parts of the popular Greek holiday island while others are having to cancel planned trips.The Foreign Office has not advised Britons to avoid non-essential travel to the entire island, while some travel companies are continuing to fly holidaymakers to Rhodes as they claim the blazes are not affecting the whole island.In a tweet, TUI wrote: "IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR CUSTOMERS WITH UPCOMING HOLIDAYS TO THE SOUTH OF RHODES," as it issued an update on flights and holidays.TUI, which had carried out five repatriation flights by Wednesday, announced that it will not operate any outbound flights to Rhodes up to and including Friday, July 28, with holidays scrapped for those going to affected hotels before and on August 11.Passengers due to travel up to and including Sunday for all areas of Rhodes will be offered a fee free amendment to another holiday or the option to cancel for a full refund.
Flights from Rhodes back to the UK & Ireland are being operated as scheduled.TUI also issued an update for holidaymakers travelling to different parts on the island with changes to both northern and southern Rhodes.
The tour operator vowed to "constantly review the situation".For those travelling to the north of Rhodes from Saturday, July 29, hotels and resorts are fully operational and TUI reps are offering their usual service.
