Tributes have been paid to a 'shining star' Labour Party chair following his tragic death after heart surgery. Stuart McKenzie, chair of the Stalybridge and Hyde Labour Party, previously stood twice in local elections as the Labour candidate for the Stalybridge South ward.

Aged in his 20s, McKenzie had only recently been appointed to the role as chair as part of a restructure of the Labour Party in Stalybridge and Hyde, back in October.
