Tributes paid to popular Scots footballer after sudden death

Tributes have been paid to a Scots footballer who passed away suddenly leaving his family heartbroken.James McCourt, nicknamed Coogie, died last weekend.

The Unity FC captain's loved ones said they are devastated by his shock passing, describing him as an 'all-round genuine, good guy'.James, from Dumbarton, appeared to have played for the Glasgow team for several seasons.

The team competes in the Glasgow and District Sunday Football Championship (GDSFC) second division and promotes recovery from alcohol and drug issues and challenging stigma.Friend and fellow Unity FC player Joe Crawford said: "Our teammate and captain, our friend, our brother and an all- round genuine good guy."The past few days have really shown how many people loved James and how well thought of he was.

His untimely passing has left an empty space in a lot of lives, none more so than his family."I can't begin to imagine the impact this has had on them.
