A holidaymaker collapsed and died on the balcony of her Caribbean hotel after suffering a heart attack, an inquest heard. Lynn Jones had returned to her room from the bar of the Yellow Bird Hotel in Barbados when the tragedy took place on Christmas Eve 2023.

An inquest at Stockport coroners court heard allegations that following the 56-year-old travel agent's death her partner Nick Repton had found a bag of drugs, which he threw away before calling for help.

Mr Repton strongly denied those claims. Giving evidence via video link he told how on the day of Ms Jones' death the couple had been to a barbecue at a beach bar before heading back to their hotel.

There they had a few drinks at the bar with another couple they had become friendly with. Mr Repton told the inquest he became tired so returned to the room, leaving Ms Jones at the bar.
