A man aged in his 40s has tragically died after a wall collapsed at a house. Police confirmed enquiries into the tragedy are ongoing, but said he was 'involved in a workplace accident'.
The Manchester Evening News understands a rescue operation was attempted, but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday afternoon.
It's believed the house involved - on Lloyd Street South in Fallowfield, Manchester - was undergoing renovation work. The man hasn't been named and no exact age for him has been released either. There were no reports of any other casualties. In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 2.50pm today (Saturday 16 September 2023), officers were called to reports of concerns for welfare of a man at an address on Lloyd Street South, Manchester. "It was established that a man in his 40s was involved in a workplace accident and despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
