Man dies after police incident closes section of M60

A man has died following an incident on the M60. Emergency services were called to the incident near Stockport after a man fell from a bridge late on Monday afternoon (October 2), the Manchester Evening News understands.

Police and paramedics, along with an air ambulance, attended the incident at around 4.30pm to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man in his 40s.

It is understood the man fell from a bridge over the motorway and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. His death is not believed to be suspicious. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers were called to the M60 at around 4.30pm on 2 October 2023 to concerns over the welfare of a man on his 40s. "Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene - his death is not believed to be suspicious.
