A young mum whose beloved dog escaped from her front garden was left heartbroken when his body was returned to her 'in pieces' in bin bags, after he was killed on a nearby railway line.

Trent, a two-year-old Chow Chow, escaped from his owner Keylisha Gleeson's home at around 3pm on Monday November 4, the Liverpool Echo reported.

This took place in the Kirkdale area just north of Liverpool city centre, where two Merseyrail lines intersect at the Kirkdale Traction Maintenance Depot.

Gleeson made a Facebook post appealing for the return of her missing pet, and was informed by several people he had been seen wandering into the depot near Bank Hall station.
