Just For Laughs Festival Sets Dates For Montreal Return In 2025 After Bankruptcy Wiped Out 2024 Edition

deadline.comThe Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal has set the dates for its return in the summer of 2025 after bankruptcy wiped out the 2024 edition.
The fest, known as a conduit for emerging comedy talent, will run July 16-27. The dates were revealed as lottery and gaming firm Loto-Québec confirmed its commitment as a signature partner of the 2025 festival.
Earlier this year, the presenters of the festival announced they were canceling the 2024 edition and letting go of several dozen staffers due to the one-two punch of Covid and rising inflation.
Press reports at the time estimated that 75 workers, about 70% of the staff, had exited. Events in several parts of Canada are held under the Just for Laughs banner.
