A young boy was struck and killed by a school bus as it pulled away, moments after his older brother had got on board. Police said that the bus driver spotted the six-year-old, named by officials as Shimon Fried, lying in the road before dialling emergency services.
Officers were said to have arrived quickly to the scene in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday but the child could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
NYPD Sgt Robert Denig said: "The school bus driver closed the door and proceeded to pull forward. "As he was doing that, the six-year-old was crossing in front of the school bus.
I believe unbeknownst to the driver the six-year-old stepped in front of the bus. "The bus hit the child and the child was run over." Moment
